Rates and Modalities
We offer all consultations both virtually and in person. The rates are the same, though in person services require reimbursement for travel and a per diem for expenses.
Our process is labor intensive and requires quite a bit of work both on your part and ours. In order to do this kind of work we must also find time for continued study, and self-cultivation, and civic engagement. At the same time, we want to be able to offer our services to anyone who seeks them, without respect to ability to pay.
The standard hourly rate for services similar to ours is around $200/hour and this will be our standard rate, with various special packages available for those who commit to long term processes (at least 10 hours of services) as well as discounted rates for those facing financial hardship.
Initial Consultations are free.
Half Day Workshops ( 3 hour): $2000.
Full Day Workshops (6 hour) $4000.
Standard workshops, including workshops on any of the topics listed on our Higher Education consulting page, which do not require extended special preparation may be available at a significant discount.
Extended engagements: are billed hourly at $200 per hour.
Retained Consulting Services (except Leadership Advisory/Search Consulting) are eligible for significant discounts, begining at 5% for projects we estimate will take 20 hours, 10% for jobs we estimate will take forty hours, and 25% for projects we expect will take 170 hours or more.
Retained Leadership Advisory/Search Consulting Services are billed at on third of the expected salary for the position you are filling, generally calculated at 125% of the minimum salary in the hiring range.
Discounts are available for organizations with very limited resources. We base our decisions on a number of factors including
the character of the work you are doing,
whether or not your organization is a recognized nonprofit or social benefit corporation
the size of your budget, and
the amount you pay your highest paid staff.
Travel Expenses, when charged, are calculated using actual airfair (or more rarely train or bus fare), the standard IRS milage and per diem rates (within the US) and State Department per diem rates (outside the US). For countries with significantly different (higher or lower) accomodation and meal costs, alternative rates may be proposed.
